Revenue Deptt to expedite allotment of land to 3 RSETIs

Srinagar, Jul 08 : The & government has directed the Revenue department and sponsoring banks to allot land for remaining three Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSTEIs) in the Union Territory.

Documents lay bare that J&K's chief secretary Arun Kumar Mehta has directed the Revenue Department and banks sponsoring the initiative to expedite the allotment of land to RSETIs in remaining three districts to bring the matter to its logical conclusion.

The directions were passed by the top bureaucrat during the 7th meeting of the Union Territory Level Bankers Committee held on June 22, 2022.

According to minutes of the meeting, the land has been allotted for RSETIs in 17 districts of Jammu and Kashmir but is pending in Anantnag, Doda and Ramban.

“General Manager, J&K UTLBC informed the House that out of 20 RSETIs operating in UT of J&K, land has been allotted by the Government in 17 districts for construction of buildings and lease deeds have been executed in most of the districts. In respect of the remaining three districts i.e. Anantnag, Doda and Ramban allotment of land by the government is under process,” reads record note of the meeting.

During the meeting, the J&K's Government's Revenue department informed participants that sponsoring banks are rejecting the land on one pretext or the other.

“Commissioner Secretary, Revenue, J&K Government informed the house that land has been identified by the Government for remaining three districts but the sponsoring banks are rejecting the proposed land on one pretext or other,” the minutes of the meeting further state.

RSETIs are the initiatives of the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) to set-up dedicated infrastructure in each district of the country for impart training and skill upgradation of rural youth.

RSETIs are managed by banks with active co-operation from the government of and state governments. The Jammu & Kashmir Bank and State Bank of India are sponsoring banks of the initiative in the UT.
