Training prog on PMKKKY organized

District Mineral Foundation of Geology and Mining Department, J&K, organized a district level training programme on Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY) here today.
During her address, Joint Director, G&M, Jammu, Manisha Sarin informed that the PMKKKY scheme aims towards transforming the lives of people living in areas which are affected directly or indirectly by mining.
She said that under the scheme, several developmental and welfare programs are being implemented in mining affected areas that complement the existing ongoing schemes of State and Central Government.
It also minimize the adverse impacts, during and after mining, on the , and socio-economics of people in mining districts besides ensuring long-term sustainable livelihoods for the affected people in mining areas, she maintained.
She said that the scheme is meant to provide for the welfare of areas and people affected by mining related operations, using the funds generated by District Mineral Foundations (DMFs).The objective of this training programme is to aware the officers of the department on the optimal use of the District Mineral Foundation Funds, she added.
Resource person from Ministry of Mines, Abhay Kumar briefed about all the aspects about the scheme like drinking water supply, health care, sanitation, , skill development, women and child care, welfare of aged and disabled people, skill development and environment conservation.
Kumar said that for creating a supportive and conducive living environment, balance funds will be spent on making roads, bridges, railways, waterways projects, irrigation and alternative energy sources.
Among others, Deputy Directors J S Jamwal and H L Langeh besides District Mineral Officers, Ankur Sachdev, Bodhraj and Vishal Dogra and other concerned officers attended the training programme.Training prog on PMKKKY organized
