Jammu Tawi, May 06
So long the PDP-BJP work in conflict, peace in Kashmir is a distant dream. The growing conflict between the two parties that share power in the state became evident when some BJP MLAs remained absent during the District Development Board meeting at Kathua.
This indicates that the BJP is still not convinced over the police investigation and the crime branch report on the Kathua Case. The senior BJP leaders have suggested to the party High command to force Mehbooba Mufti to order a CBI probe which would satisfy not only the BJP but the people of the Jammu region.
The people of Jammu region and now followed by the state unit of the BJP has blamed the PDP and other Kashmir centric politicians (all parties) for first projecting the criminal act of some individual on communal lines from Assembly to media and thereby promoting regional and communal crisis in the state. While the entire Jammu region demanding CBI probe into the Kathua incident, those in Kashmir valley are even not satisfied with the crime branch report as they have been aggressively pursuing till date the vilification and communal campaign even upto street level in the valley with impunity despite the fact that the case has been now in the competent Court.
As a result of conflict between the BJP and the PDP most of the ministers and their henchmen are cashing in on the conflict and resorting to various corrupt practices. Various development schemes have suffered because these projects have not been initiated what to speak of execution.
In fact the same is leading to promotion of corrupt practices in various development works and besides mode of payment to contractors. Though the BJP High command has suggested to the state unit of the BJP not to press for changing the political arrangement, several senior BJP leaders who are not holding any office have conveyed their concern to the Central leadership and the team of central ministers that in the next Assembly election the BJP would be mauled if the political arrangement is to continue without a dose of warning to Mehbooba and the PDP leaders.
Interestingly, the state unit of the BJP is too willing to continue the political arrangement but wanted the PDP does not grant a raw deal to it. Further, some of the dissenting leaders complained in private that there is need for toning up the administrative machinery which has at present totally collapsed. (KIP)
