India has enforced the follow-on with a first-innings lead of 326 runs against South Africa in the 4th day of second test match in Pune today. The Proteas lost Aiden Markram on the second ball of the innings to Ishant Sharma. South Africa were 9 for 1 in 3 overs when reports last came in.
Yesterday, tail-enders Keshav Maharaj and Vernon Philander set an example of gutsy batsmanship as South Africa fought hard against a quality attack. But the visitors could not stop the hosts from taking a massive 326-run lead on the third day.
For South Africa, Keshav Maharaj was the top scorer with 72 while skipper F du Plesis made 64 runs. For India, Ravi Chandran scalped 4 wickets, Umesh Yadav 3, Mohammed Shami two and Ravindra Jadeja one. The hosts had declared their first innings at 601 for five.
