Leh, Feb 11: Four nominated councilors for 6th Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Thursday took the oath after which the council stands officially complete.
The election for the 6th LAHDC were held in October last year in which Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) managed to regain the council with 15 seats alone and Tashi Gyalson took over as the chairman of the council.
Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that nominated councilors including Ven Konchok Tsepel, Mumtaz Hussain, Phuntsog Norboo, and Dr. Yangchan Dolma Thursday took the oath and officially completed the strength of 30 members of the house.
They said that the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CMJ) Leh, Spalzes Angmo administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly nominated councillors at the DC Conference hall today.
Others who attended the oath-taking ceremony were Deputy Chairman, LAHDC, Leh Tsering Angchuk, DC/CEO LAHDC Leh, Sachin Kumar, executive councilors, religious and political leaders, they said.
The official said that Dy Chairman, ECs, Councillors, HODs, and other supporters congratulated all the nominated councillors by offering khataks (a traditional scarf).
Notably, the two districts in the Ladakh region have an autonomous hill council comprising of 30 members of which 26 are elected through voting while 4 are nominated after taking the council office led by the chief executive councilor (CEC).
