Two lecturers design ‘Biodiversity Wall’ to motivate students

Anantnag, Nov 03 (KNO): Claiming to be the first of its kind, two South teachers said that they have designed a ‘Biodiversity Wall' which will help the students to understand biodiversity in a better manner.

Ever since the back to back lockdown and shutdown hit the Kashmir valley sector, Dr Raouf Hamzah and Manzoor Javaid, lecturers by profession have taken an initiative to motivate young children towards studies through innovative ways.

Raouf Hamza, a lecturer at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Verinag while talking with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that their design is first of its kind and there are around 90 percent animal and plant species in this biodiversity wall.

“It will help students in clearing concepts and there are around 16 galleries in the wall, ” Raouf said, adding that they have approached many schools to establish such walls so that more students can benefit.

Manzoor Javaid, State Nodal Officer at School Herbal Garden Scheme and Kashmir said that they had executed the idea at Govt Higher Secondary School Verinag and it will help students to clear all the concepts.

Zeenat Iqbal, a student of the GHSS Verinag said that the wall is first of its kind and it helps in studies besides the concepts also gets clear.

“We have bought only parts of dead species and fallen trees without causing damage to any animal or plant species,” she said.

Meanwhile, Director School Education Kashmir Tasaduq Hussain today inaugurated the ‘Biodiversity Wall'—(KNO)
