Jammu Tawi, March 11: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Friday appointed Mahendra Nath Tiwari as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) of the CID wing, besides ordering promotion of eleven police officers, five of them elevated to the grade of Super Time Scale.
“Sh. Mahendra Nath Tiwari IPS (AGMUT: 04) awaiting orders of posting, is posted as IGP CID, J&K, against an available vacancy” reads an order issued by the Home Department on Friday.
Tiwari, an expert in Cyber Security and Cyber Law, has served in Mizoram police before shifting to New Delhi as additional CP PHQ, Delhi police. He was also DIG in Mizoram Police and was involved in various international assignments by the United Nations.
Meanwhile, in a separate order issued on Friday, the government ordered promotion of 11 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers.
According to the order, those promoted to Super Time Scale- (ii)-IG (Level-14) of the Pay Matrix include Uttam Chand (IPS) with effect from 01.01.2020, on pro forma basis, on reversion to the parent cadre; Vidhi Kumar Birdi (IPS) with effect from 01.01.2021 – on proforma basis; Keshav Ram Chaurasia (IPS) with effect from 01.01.2021 on proforma basis; Atul Kumar Goel (IPS) with effect from 01.01.2022 and Bhim Sen Tuti (IPS) with effect from 01.01.2022 with “drawl of officiating pay from the date”.
Three IPS officers of 2008 batch have been promoted to the grade of Super Time Scale-(i) DIG (Level-13A in the Pay Matrix), with effect from 01.01.2022. They include Tejinder Singh (on pro forma basis), Abdul Jabbar and Udayabhaskar Billa, as per the order.
Three officers of the 2009 batch have been placed in the Selection Grade of IPS (Level-13 in the Pay Matrix) with effect from 01.01.2022.
They include Imtiaz Ismail Parray, Shailendra Kumar Mishra (on a pro forma basis) and Rahul Malik (on a pro forma basis.)
Separately, the government ordered that Reyaz Ahmad Darzi, incharge Deputy Director Prosecution Anantnag/Kulgam/Shopian shall also hold the post of Deputy Director Prosecution Pulwama and Budgam in addition to his own duties till further orders.
