Renewed violence – A challenge for the people!

Date:

The spurt in targeted violence Valley against the outsiders and minorities has put a huge challenge before the government and more importantly for the common people of Kashmir.

The killings by the terrorist are no new phenomena in and Kashmir but contours and character of violence perpetrated by the terrorist this time they stooped too low to make their presence felt and to assert their agenda.

As expected, the security forces have also upped their ante with renewed strategy to nail such nefarious design and their action mode may be some harsher than they were used to in earlier phases of militancy in Jammu Kashmir.

The fresh fear psychosis among the minorities and outsider workers who have been there in the valley on their livelihood pursuit has shaken badly the confidence they had developed over a period of time that militants may have political issues but they are not harming the common man on the street.

The large-scale migration that has caused following these targeted killings will carry with them to their native places, the hatred and bad name for Kashmir despite its people having condemned these beastly acts of a few among them.

The adverse impact on the internal , housing, industrial, trade and activities and public works of development will be tremendous and not measurable. The impact may spread to an extended area of Jammu province too. Exodus of migrant labour was painful and agonising and it recalls the days of the exodus of 1990.

The security has been beefed up around army camps, military installations and other Government formations. “Also new bunkers have come up in some areas of Srinagar which had been removed from the public view long back.

The increase in attacks has put security forces in Kashmir on tenterhooks. Security around vital installations in Srinagar has been strengthened and fresh bunkers set up in and around the city. Security forces have also identified frisking in various places. Hundreds of bikes have also been seized by the police.

Troops guarding the important government installations have been put on high alert and ordered to be on round the clock vigilance. Obviously, all these measures will put the routine lives of the people in the valley under more pressure.

The scenes of commotion and panic that were witnessed at Bus Stand and Railway Station in Jammu were heart-wrenching indeed. This leaving of the UT of Jammu & Kashmir shall have an adverse impact on the ongoing mega construction projects going in the Jammu division as well because the workers are under immense pressure from their nears and dears to immediately return back from Jammu & Kashmir.

The government at Centre and J&K Administration has shown their resolve to clear the region of terror element and may get successful in their mission, however, regaining the jolted trust of people over the frequently claimed virtues like Kashmiryat and Insaniyat and tolerance in a long and difficult process for which the Kashmir society has to assert and come clear. Thus people of Kashmir have to go the extra mile in reassuring the rest of the country that what had happened was a momentary aberration and there is no change in the heart of a common man in the valley. Of course, they have to be extra vigilant and vocal against the enemies of humanity.
