Killing militants will not eradicate militancy, we need to finish ecosystem: LG

Tawi, Dec 2: Asserting that militancy will be eradicated from Jammu and Kashmir at the earliest, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said the security forces working on strategy to uproot the ecosystem of militancy.

“After long there is government in the country, who wants to finish ecosystem of militancy. Centre and J&K government believes in establishing peace. Killing militants will not eradicate militancy. The militancy will not be uprooted until their ecosystem dismantled. We are working on staggery and if this remain continue, J&K will soon become militancy free,” LG said during an interaction with TV channel.

On talks with Pakistan, Sinha said that government's policy is very clear that we will talk to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of , in this we do not see any scope to talk to any third person,” he said.

“People involved in terrorism and terror funding are being fired without notice, for which a committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary, which after investigation and review decision taken on the termination of employees ,”  he added.

Speaking on the benefits being given to people after abrogation of article 370, Sinha said that the people were being denied from the reservations and after August 5 they get the benefit of reservation. The rights of sisters and daughters here used to end when they got married in another place, now it has changed. “It was decided on caste in J&K, who can buy land, now they can buy land and Forest Right Act being implemented for the welfare tribal,” he said.

On elections, Sinha said  “The Home Minister in Jammu and Kashmir in his visit very clearly said that delimitation, then the elections to the Legislative Assembly and after the elections, the consideration of giving statehood to Jammu and Kashmir will be done.”

” Delimitation work is going on in Jammu and Kashmir. The Delimitation Commission is a constitutional body. Elections will be held after his work is completed, as announced by the Prime Minister in his speech from the Red Fort,” he said.

He also informed that a large amount of investment is coming to J&K.

“Investment of 15 to 20 thousand crores was expected in the new industrial plan, but till now proposals of 35 thousand crores have arrived,” he added.

Sinha said that the investment proposal of 15 thousand crores has been approved.

In comparison to the last 60 years, Sinha said that number of tourists in Jammu and Kashmir has increased significantly. More than 13 lakh tourists came to Jammu and Kashmir in the month of November.

Sinha said, “In Jammu and Kashmir, 25,000 projects have been completed in two years. The youth of Jammu and Kashmir are getting on the basis of merit and transparency.

In terms of farmers' income, the farmers of Jammu and Kashmir are at number five, whose monthly income is 18-19 thousand rupees.

Sinha said, “Work has started on the project of 25 new highways in Jammu and Kashmir. There has been a huge increase in the number of flights from Jammu and Srinagar airports.”
