Jmu-Sgr highway closed, reopened

Date:

Tawi, Mar 05: The 270-kilometre Jammu-Srinagar highway was closed for traffic due to shooting stones at Panthyal area of Ramban district on highway, traffic officials said, adding that the highway was thrown open for the traffic later in the afternoon.

“Jammu—Srinagar National Highway is closed for vehicular movement due shooting stones at Panthyal area of Ramban,” a traffic official told.

“Road clearance agencies have pressed men and machinery and efforts are on to make the highway traffic worthy” he said.

“Due to heavy shooting stone a steel tunnel suffered damage on National highway,” official said.

“Intending travelers are advised not to undertake the journey without contacting the traffic control room in Srinagar and Jammu to verify the latest status of the highway”, he added.

Moreover, the highway was later thrown open for vehicular movement after the road was cleared.
