Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, paid a visit to the family of municipal councillor Rakesh Pandita, who was killed by terrorists in Pulwama earlier this month, and extended his condolences.
Conveying condolences to the family members of the deceased president of the Tral Municipal Committee, the LG said that the entire administration stands with the family of late Rakesh Pandita in this hour of grief.
Sinha assured the Pandita family of stringent action against the perpetrators, and informed that a high-level investigation has already been initiated. He added that the terrorists involved in this heinous act of violence will be brought to justice soon.
The Lt Governor sanctioned an ex gratia of Rs 40 lakh to Pandita's next of kin.
The LG was accompanied on the visit by principal secretary to the LG Nitishwar Kumar, Divisional Commissioner (Jammu) Dr Raghav Langer, and Deputy Commissioner (Jammu) Anshul Garg.
Pandita, a municipal councillor of the BJP, was shot dead by terrorists in the Tral belt of south Kashmir's Pulwama district on June 2. Pandita succumbed to injuries at the hospital. He was visiting his friend at Tral Payeen and was not accompanied by his personal security guards when the incident took place.
