Jammu Tawi, April 28: A meeting of the J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu was held under the Chairmanship of M.K. Bhardwaj, Sr. Adv & President, J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu regarding the filling up of the vacant posts in the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) at Jammu. The meeting was attended by all the office bearers of JKHCBAJ namely MP Singh Palli (Vice President), Surjeet Singh Andotra (General Secretary), Aditya Sharma (Joint Secretary) and Amandeep Singh (Treasurer), and many other members participated in the meeting.
Bhardwaj while addressing the meeting urged upon the Government that the vacant posts in the Central Administrative Tribunal should immediately be filled up. He said that the Tribunal is not functioning properly due to lack of quorum. He said that it is disturbing that the pending cases are not being taken up and the next date in most of the cases is being fixed after six months. Accordingly, this is effecting dispensation of justice system severely. The J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu has been repeatedly requesting that the number of Central Administrative Benches should be increased so that the pendency of service matters in the Tribunal decreases and confidence of the general public in administration of justice dispensation may be restored.
The Bar Association once again demanded that there should be three additional Benches of the CAT at Jammu so that the matters pending in the Tribunal should be heard and decided in reasonable time.
Meanwhile, he strongly condemned the U.T. Government of Jammu & Kashmir for their inaction, who has failed even in providing the basic essential services to the people of Jammu province due to which the general public is suffering very badly in this hot summer season.
He further urged upon the Government to concentrate on providing the uninterrupted power supply in Jammu province rather than focusing only on installation of smart meters. He said that the people of Jammu are regularly paying their monthly rent and without their fault the public should not suffer any more.
He warned the U.T. in case the Government fails to fulfill its basic duty to provide uninterrupted power supply in Jammu province, then the Bar Association would adopt agitational path to get the grievances of the general public redressed.
