Jaishankar’s trip to the US

Date:

S. Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, is in the United States on an 11-day visit, and his trip is turning out to be a
lesson in simple language. To attend the UN General Assembly, the foreign minister arrived in the US on Sunday. He
criticised the US government and media for their anti- stance. Immediately after his arrival in the US Jaishnkar has
met with Indian Americans, members of the US press, and Antony Blinken. He is there to “allow a high-level review of
the diverse bilateral agenda and strengthen cooperation on regional and global challenges to further consolidate the
India-US strategic relationship,” according to the official justification for his visit.
However, it's emerging as a momentous state visit that has the potential to reshape US-India ties. To put things in
perspective, the Joe Biden administration has not endorsed the policies and procedures of the Modi government. To
make matters worse, Prime Minister Modi has been harshly criticised by the US press for his right-wing views and the
rise in hate crimes in the nation. But then, the nation they are criticising, not the Indian government, is the focus.
Whatever occurs in India must be settled at home, thus S. Jaishankar's visit is crucial in this regard.
In a humorous attack, the minister for external relations said that the US media will only cover the bad news
and ignore the positive. He also responded to the worries expressed by the US media regarding the situation in
. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar was very front about India's objections to Pakistan's $450 million
sustainment package for its F-16 force before a meeting with his US counterpart Antony Blinken. asserting that
Washington was “not deceiving anyone” when it claimed the fighter jets were intended for anti-terrorism
operations in Afghanistan and other countries. The partnership between the US and Pakistan, according to
Jaishankar, does not advance the interests of any nation.
The US and India are natural friends in the current geopolitical situation because India is deeply concerned about China's
rise and cannot contain it without the US's support. Given India's proximity to Russia, the US also needs India to counter
Putin's threats and act as a mediator if necessary. However, India must also state its viewpoints and make clear its
interests, as Jaishankar is currently doing.
