Govt. taking all measures to promote Urdu, says Council Director

Srinagar, Nov 13 (UNI): Director, Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), Dr Aquil Ahmad has said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking all measures to promote Urdu language and literature.
He said the allegations of maltreatment by the current dispensation with the language are concocted and baseless.
Ahmad, in an interview with UNI, said the allegations against the present government eradicating Urdu are totally incorrect and baseless.
?The future of Urdu language and literature is bright not only in but all over the ,” Dr Aquil Ahmad said.
He said the Narendra Modi-led government is very serious about the promotion of Urdu language and literature, which is evident by the fact that this government has increased the of NCPUL by 150 percent? The future of Urdu is bright. We have been hearing for the past fifty years that Urdu is disappearing but the fact is that its popularity is increasing day by day. There is hardly any state in India where Urdu language is not spoken. The future of Urdu language is bright not only in India but all over the world as well,? the director said.
He said, Urdu language is not only being spoken in the US and Canada but spreading fast in Russia, China, United Kingdom, Germany, even new lovers of the language are found in the Middle East as well.
Dr Aquil said Urdu language, like English,  is widely spoken all around.
He said the NCPUL, besides publishing two to three hundred books in Urdu for children every year also brings forth 40-50 books on various titles of literature during the same period.
