Floral tributes paid to CISF soldier SP Patel

Jammu and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday said the gallant deeds of CISF's Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) S P Patel, who gave his life in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu, will never be forgotten. “I salute 's brave son and an ASI of the CISF, S P Patel, who made the supreme sacrifice while fighting terrorists at Sunjwan, Jammu,” Sinha said. Sinha prayed for a speedy recovery of those injured in the gun battle.

The Director General of Police Dilbag Singh and top brass of Police, CRPF and CISF led the Police, Civil administration and CAPFs in paying floral tributes to the martyr Assistant Sub-Inspector of CISF, S P Patel in a wreath laying ceremony held at District Police Lines Jammu, this afternoon.

Senior officers ADGPs H. K. Lohia, Mukesh Singh, M. K. Sinha, Danesh Rana, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Raghav Langer, DIG CISF S K Sinha, DIG JSK Range Vivek Gupta, SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli, AIG of PHQ, Commandants of Jammu based battalions of JKAP/IRP, CRPF and other gazetted officers and personnel of JKP and CISF, CRPF paid their tributes to the martyr.

The DGP on behalf of JK Police conveyed heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the family of the martyr. While talking to media the DGP, said that Jammu and Kashmir police, CRPF and CISF had launched a joint operation during the intervening night at Sunjwan area, where the officer was injured in a terrorist fire and later succumbed to his injuries.

The hiding terrorists in an attempt to flee from the spot opened indiscriminate firing on joint Police and Security Forces party which was effectively retaliated triggering an encounter. In the fight, Assistant Sub-Inspector of CISF Shri S P Patel and some of our security personnel were also injured. Two Pakistani terrorists of JeM who were in fidayeen gear/mode were gunned down in the encounter, he added.
