Gurez, Oct 05 (KNO): The residents of Abdulain, a remote village of Tulail in north 's Bandipora district have accused the government of failing to repair the school building which suffered extensive damages due to the heavy snowfall in 2008.

In 2008, heavy snowfall damaged the government middle school at Abdulain village of Tulail in Gurez valley, but since then the building has not been repaired, becoming a matter of worry for the parents and the students as well.

According to locals, around 150 students are on rolls in this middle school but a proper school infrastructure remains a distant dream for them.

“We don't know how long this situation will continue,” Aaid Kamran, an 11-year-old student told the News agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

Hashim, another student said that the school building must be repaired immediately so that they too can get rid of these sufferings.

“We have raised the matter with the government many times but nothing is happening yet,” the locals said, adding that recently, when Deputy Commissioner Bandipora visited the same village, people complained to him about this school.

The locals urged the District Administration Bandipora to resume work on this building as soon as possible.

An official stationed at Gurez said that a proposal for renovation of the school was sent to the higher authorities.

“I think the work on the said building will start very soon as the renovation fund has been released,” an official said.
