Congress cries foul over thinning of security cover to JKPCC president

Date:

Tawi, March 23:Reacting strongly to the reduction in the security apparatus to JKPCC President Congress today hit out at JK administration especially the security set up for being vindictive and discriminatory towards Congress and other opposition leadership.

JKPCC termed it unfortunate that the ‘limited security cover' to the JKPCC President G A Mir has been further downgraded to almost negligible, as his security escort which was being provided to him in valley, has been withdrawn  today, putting his life to risk.

Mir was left with thin security, that too in his home district Anantnag and elsewhere in Kashmir valley.

BJP and some pro govt outfits' leaders avail much higher security cover and security vehicles, even in Jammu region, which reflects the misuse of security system for political purposes.

The security cover has become the subject of discretion and mercy of police agency and if you oppose the wrongs, your security cover is withdrawn or downgraded. The police officers have become dole authority to take arbitrary decision in the matter, which is very undemocratic.

As elections draw near and targeted killings go on, the JK administration goes on withdrawing or downgrading security cover to Congress and opposition leaders. In the recent past the security of several top Congress leaders was withdrawn. Those leaders who join BJP or it's outfits are immediately provided extra security cover.

The party demanded changing the anti democratic and anti opposition attitude in the matter of security cover to strengthen political and democratic process in Jammu and Kashmir, JKPCC Chief Spokesperson said.
