Arvind Sharma, Jammu Tawi, June 23: It is now almost clear that the Government of India (GoI) wants different political parties of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (UT) to keep guessing about the motive behind tomorrow's All-Party Meeting (APM) called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the participants have still not been informed about the agenda of the much-hyped meeting.
Speculations have been making rounds in different circles and in media that the meeting has been called by the Prime Minister to set in motion the political process in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, discuss prevailing situation here, ensuring statehood to J&K besides discussing some other important issues like delimitation, last but not the least, the return of displaced Kashmir Hindus community back to the valley.
However, none of the participants has still been officially informed about the meeting agenda, which is scheduled for tomorrow at 3 PM at New Delhi
Congress, NPP and other parties have expressed their anguish at not being conveyed the meeting's agenda.
“Despite our request, we have still not been informed about the meeting agenda,” GA Mir, President, J&K PCC, told The Northlines.
“This is an established practice that the participants are informed about the agenda of any meeting to be convened by either Chief Minister, Governor or even by a DC,” Mir said adding, “This APM is to be chaired by the Prime Minister but strangely nobody has been informed about the meeting agenda.
“It seems that the central government wants the people as well as the political parties to keep guessing,” he said adding, “We still don't know as to what is going to be discussed in the meeting”.
Who knows whether it is a development package, political issues or law and order situation is going to be discussed in the APM, he said.
We need time to prepare for the issues to be discussed in the meeting, he said.
Similarly, NPP patron, Prof Bhim Singh also expressed his anguish over the matter.
“It seems that the centre wants us to toe their line,” Singh said adding, “we are not aware of the agenda which simply means that we would be going into the meeting as a blank paper”.
Till the filing of this report the political parties were not informed about the agenda of the meeting.
