3 Soldiers Martyred, 2 Terrorists killed in suicide attack bid at Rajouri Army Base

Date:

Rajouri, Aug 11: An early-morning suicide strike on an army base in Rajouri, Division, resulted in the martyrdom of three troops and the injury of another two. Two terrorists were shot dead after they were seen attempting to scale a barrier and penetrate the army base.

Story in brief:

“A few terrorists attempted to scale the perimeter fence of the Pargal army camp. They were challenged by the sentry, and a firefight ensued “Mukesh Singh, the additional director general of police, stated.

According to Mr. Singh, more personnel have been dispatched to the army base to bolster security.

While the Rajouri district and other areas of the Jammu region have mostly been free of terrorism, a number of terror incidents have occurred over the past six months.

According to the authorities, the terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba, or LeT, was behind today's incident.

The incident also occurs the day after the police in the Union Territory's Pulwama area prevented a serious catastrophe by discovering a 25 kg IED.

Since terrorists assaulted the Sunjwan camp in the Jammu region in February 2018, this was the first significant terrorist attack on an army facility in Jammu and .

In 2016, 18 troops were killed in action in Uri,  Kashmir, after a similar terror strike.

Talib Hussain Shah, the alleged BJP's minority morcha social media coordinator in the Jammu region, was recently arrested by the police after they dismantled a significant LeT module in Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP eventually disowned him, criticising the online membership process that enables anyone to join the party without being checked for criminal history.

Talib Hussain Shah was allegedly involved in a number of attacks in the area, according to the police. He had a tonne of weapons that were found on him.

“Very sorry to hear about the death in the line of duty of three soldiers following a militant attack in Rajouri. While condemning the attack I send my condolences to the families and my prayers for the swift recovery of those officers and jawans injured in the attack,” former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted.
