Amid the security concern of Indian Air Force, Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman has transferred the officer out of the Srinagar to another base in the Western sector, as per media reports.
“Indian Air Force transfers Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman out of the Srinagar airbase amid concerns over his security in valley. Officer posted to an important airbase in the Western sector,” a report said.
The IAF has not revealed the name of the security base where Abhinandan has been transferred due to security reasons but the posting is along the Pakistan border in the Western sector and the officer has been cleared to fly the fighter jet again and will be continuing his duties yet again.
The IAF is also recommending Abhinandan Varthaman's name for the wartime gallantry medal Vir Chakra for shooting down an F-16 in an aerial warfare between and Pakistan.
After the Pulwama attack in Kashmir, which claimed the lives of more than 40 CRPF soldiers, India reverted with an aerial strike across the LoC in Balakot at the terror camps of Jaish-e-Mohammed with the Mirage 2000 fighter jets along with 1000 kgs of bomb.
Pakistan, in reaction, attacked Indian armaments with its F-16 and in response, India brought its MiG 21 to pin down the Pakistan Air Force and in the process, Abhinandan Varthaman's MiG 21 bison crash landed in PoK, although he was able to shot down the F-16 which eventually crashed and landed in Pakistan.
