JammuWhither Good Governance?

Whither Good Governance?

Date:

S. K. Bhalla

It is high time to remind one and all anew that promotion of good governance is the one point agenda of Public Civil Vigilance Cell. Good governance is a broad spectrum term covering all most all the spheres of life. Unfortunately the opposite of good governance in J&K is visible and mal-governance shall continue to stalk us unless we take corrective measures without any delay.

The other day at a vociferous TV channel regarding Vrinda Karat was heard that separatists have an upper hand and regarding the present un-holy alliance of BJP-PDP the words utter failure beamed. Irrepressible Subramanian Swamy went two steps further to call present dispensation impotent. It was also telecast that Mirwaiz justifies lynching and Mehbooba is reluctant to name killers. The helpless DGP Mr. Vaid gave a stereotyped statement for our consumption viz “The time has come to take a call. Govt. will take collective decision. The resolve of J&K Police is strong”. This reminded us of late top cop with a difference Mr. KPS Gill. Alas! Vaid is no Gill.

“Sermons inside lynching outside” I myself heard in a debate. The Teacher turned politician Nirmal Singh went to offer ritualistic condolences but the lynched Dy. SP whose mutilated body's photographs were shared by a police officer with me made me writhe in pain.

In another hear-rendering event, the one year toddler of a soldier from Maharashtra offered ‘Agni' to his father on a day which was tiny tot's birthday. These two instances convey a ghoulish message. The story does not end here. The genuine Kashmiris' have their own tales of woes. Many had to bear the brunt of the doing of others. A sense of suspicion and mistrust that ‘all Kashmiris are bad' has also taken roots and it is worrying. All are not ‘Wahabis' since I have a personal rapport with some who are opposed to non-sense and blame the successive Govts including the ‘sacred' agenda of alliance stitched by RSS ideologue Mr. Ram Madhav whose English is beyond my comprehension. To keep their seat intact these politicians can go to any length as they are not seers but men and women of straw.

Is there is any solution? Forgetting for a while who is who in J&K some tough measures will have to be taken. Zee TV has aired figures of security related expenditures incurred on ‘Gaddars' in past and present too. Crores spent on their conveyance charges and security related expenditure as reported. Who is accountable for this financial irregularity?

Violations of rights issue both of civilians and security forces are a tough area. A lot more is required to be done. All violations by anyone cannot be condoned. Gone astray folk shall have to be educated that they are Indians first and then Kashmiris. Insistence on being Kashmiris only is a casualty. Even Arnab failed to tame mischievous Shabnam Lone. But she has to be on the TV shows with her dangerous agenda.

There is no harm to conduct a survey of the properties of Abdullahs' (both senior and junior) as also one time high profile CM from Gandoh Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad. Yeh Bhi Doodh Ke Dhulae Hue Nahi Hain. Check Karo demands Public Civil Vigilance Cell J&K.

With inputs from Mohit Sawhney (I/C Youth Wing) and Ors.
