Shiv Sena (Bala Saheb Thackeray), Jammu and unit leaders staged protest, here today demanding immediate cancellation of scholarship schemes for the children of slain terrorists. Party state president Manish Sahni said that more than 10 months have passed since Section 370 was removed, but no major changes were seen in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sahni, while taking a tough stance on the scheme of giving scholarship to the children of terrorists, questioned, how can the government distribute the hard earned money of the public among the children of terrorists. If BJP leaders and honorable Lt. Governor have so much sympathy with these children, they should adopt these children, he said. He said that the security personnel deployed in Kashmir lost their lives in efforts to free Jammu and Kashmir from terrorism. But continuing the scholarship scheme for the children of terrorists is like encouraging terrorism. Sahni alleged that for the last 73 years, the attitude of all governments in the Centre and in Jammu and Kashmir has been to “take from Jammu and give to Kashmir”.
He said that revenue collection like GST, income tax, electricity-water bill etc., the share of Jammu division has been always more than Kashmir, but when it comes to giving something under government schemes, the entire attention is focused only on Kashmir. Sahni warned not to take the people of Jammu for granted. President Mahila Wing, Meenakshi Chibber, working President Ashwini Gupta, General Secretary Vikas Bakshi, Secretary Raj Singh, Bhuri Singh, Raju Salaria, Sanjeev Sudan, Sheetal Rajput were also present on the occasion.
