Army paid tribute to slain soldier in Akhnoor sector this morning who lost his life in the ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Sunderbani sector on Tuesday.
Showing a bold face, the slain soldier's son, Sumeer Kumar, a class 4 student lit the pyre as the body of the deceased was consigned to flames with full military honours.
Hundreds of people from surrounding villages reached and lined up on both sides of the road in his village to receive the body and chanted slogans in praise of his sacrifice for the nation and demanded strict action against Pakistan to stop this shelling on line of control.
His son desires to join Indian army to take revenge of his father's killing by completing his studies.
The tributes was paid to martyr Naik Krishan Lal in a ceremonial Wreath laying ceremony held at Akhnoor this morning where Major General R Dewan, GOC Crossed Swords Division laid wreath.
The mortal remains of the martyred soldier were brought to his native village wherein his last rites were carried out with full military honours. Wreaths were laid on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, military authorities and representatives of civil administration.
A large gathering had assembled on the site to pay their respects to the de-parted soul.
Naik Krishan Lal was a brave, highly motivated and sincere soldier. The Nation will always remain indebted to him for the supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty, spokesperson of army said.
