Two hideout busted, arms recovered in Jammu

, Feb 26: Security Forces busted a militant hide out in Reasi district of Jammu and recovered a large quantity of arms and ammunition, officials said Friday.

Police spokesman said that in a joint operation of Mahore Police, Army and CRPF's 126 Bn  busted a militant hideout at Reasi and recovered arms and ammunition, including explosives and automatic rifles.

“Based on specific information from a reliable source regarding suspicious movement in Upper Sildhar and adjoining areas areas of Ranjati top and Rousouwali Top , a joint party of Jammu and Police from Police Station Mahore, army  and CRPF  launched a cordon and search operation (CASO)in the Upper Sildhar Forest area ,Ranjati top area ,Rousowali Top and area Adjoining Dagantop Hills early morning,” the statement said, adding that, “During the search, an underground hideout was found.”

It further said that from the hideout, a huge cache of arms ammunition was recovered that include one AK 47 rifle with two magazines and 150 cartridges, one Rocket Launcher, 16 UBGL grenades , four Hand grenades and two VHF radio sets with antennas,” the statement said. “The timely recovery of huge cache of arms and ammunition has thwarted any possible untoward incident in the otherwise peaceful region and has scuttled the nefarious plans of militant outfits to derail peace and harmony in the region South of Pir Panjal Ranges”.

A case FIR No. 06/ 2021 US 4/5 Explosive act and other relevant section of law has been registered at Police station Mahore and investigation started. It is pertinent to mention here that on February 18, a militant  hideout was busted in Makhidar Forest area, Upper Shikari in which another huge cache of arms and ammunition's was recovered.

Meanwhile, Security Forces have recovered four hand grenades besides pistol and AK-47 rounds during Cordon and Search Operation launched in Balakote area near Line of Control in Mendhar sub division.

SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral said that a joint search operation based on disclosure of Sher Ali, an arrested militant in FIR No.292/2020 was launched in Dhargaloon area near Line of Control in Mendhar.

“Four hand grenades, fifteen pistol bullets and ten AK bullets have been recovered during the operation,” the SSP said, adding that further probe is on.
