The Jammu-Srinagar Highway was opened for one-way traffic on Friday after remaining closed for four days, officials said.The all- road connecting the Valley with the rest of the country was closed on Monday after snowfall across Jawahar Tunnel and multiple landslide in the Banihal-Ramban sector due to rains and snow.”One-way traffic has been allowed to move on the highway from Srinagar to Jammu, No fresh traffic will be allowed from Jammu,” a traffic officials told.Men and machines worked overtime last evening and cleared the highway of debris brought in by landslides at Ramsoo, Pantiyal and Digdool, officials said.Deputy Superintendent of Police, Banihal, Shamsher Singh said restoration work on the highway started after improvement in weather on Thursday evening.Over 1,000 stranded trucks on way to Jammu and near about 100 light motor vehicles stranded at Ramban have been allowed to move. More loaded trucks stranded at isolated places between Jawahar tunnel and lower Munda has been also be allowed to move towards Jammu, officials said.
