I&C hosts workshop on Govt e-Marketing registration

Tawi, March 03: A special two-day workshop about the benefits of registration of Medium Small and Micro Enterprises (MSME)s on Government e-Marketplace (GeM) was today organised by the Finance Department in collaboration with Industries & Commerce Department.
The workshop is being conducted through Experts from GeM and was inaugurated by Director Industries and Commerce, Jammu, Anoo Malhotra.
Director I&C emphasized that GeM will open a new market for the entrepreneurs pan , which will lead to an increase in their market avenues across the country. GeM is a one-stop platform for procurement of common use Goods & Services required by various Government department and organizations will achieve the objectives envisaged viz Easier availability of various goods and services for the Government buyers, Create transparency in public procurement, Cost saving on government expenditure, Achieve and promote cashless transactions and for that the MSMEs of J&K must register themselves on the portal.
The resource person, Kush Tyagi, highlighted various benefits of the GeM. In his presentation, he elaborated the details of steps to be taken for obtaining registration on the GeM portal. He also explained bidding, quality, rating of the vendors, limited market place, services and goods rendered, QUI etc on GeM portal in detail.
The Local filters and MSME filters can be used together for procurements made-up to Rs. 5.00 lacs from local manufacturers. For purchases above Rs. 5.00 lacs additional terms and conditions clause can be used by the departments for restricting procurement within a geographical limit, through the process of bidding on the GeM.
Rattan Dogra, President Industrial Association, Gangyal, Jammu also attended the programme along with prominent unit holders from Gangyal, Bari Brahmana, Birpur, Akhnoor, Samba, Reasi, Udhampur which numbered more than 150 .
The GeM officials handled the queries efficiently and gave details of the local GeM filter saying that this would go a long way in helping the local industry flourish. The 3rd Session of the workshop shall be held on the 4th of March 2021 at 11 am in the Conference Hall Udyog Bhawan Jammu.
