Hoteliers demand helicopter, ropeway service for Shiv Khori

A delegation of Hotel and Restaurant Association (HRA) led by its President, Rakesh Wazir on Wednesday met Divisional Commissioner , Sanjeev Verma who is also Chairman of Shiv Khori Shrine Board. The delegation demanded helicopter service between Katra and Shiv Khori and ropeway between Ransoo and Shiv Khori. “These facilities will prove to be a big attraction for the pilgrims and will boost the Shiv Khori pilgrimage in a big way besides contributing to the of the State,” the delegation members said. Speaking on the occasion Wazir said that Shiv Khori pilgrimage has increased from 2-3 lakhs to 20 lakh in just a few years and if facilities are increased, it may easily cross 50 lakh. The delegation demanded development at Katra and Vaishno Devi Ji shrine on pattern of Chandigarh so that not a single wire or drain remains visible. Other delegation members highlighted the issue of water shortage at Katra and demanded early start of water supply points for tankers around Katra. Wazir further said that preparation for upcoming Navratra festival should be started well in advance so that it may be celebrated in a big way to convey a message to the that things are as normal in Katra and Vaishno Devi as in any other part of the world.
