Indian Filmmakers often insult Hindu Gods in the name of freedom of expression, while West doesn't ridicule Jesus/Allah!

Tawi, Feb 26: Rejecting Bail Plea of Amazon Prime's Head in the Tandav Case, the court said Indian filmmakers repeatedly ridicule Hindu Gods ‘taking benefit of their liberal and tolerant '.

The court said this needs to be stopped as it could have disastrous consequences for India.

This comes after over 10 FIRs were filed against the makers of Tandav and Amazon Prime India Head Aparna Purohit for Insulting Hindu Gods.

Earlier the Supreme Court of India had also refused to provide protection to the makers of Tandav while observing that ‘Freedom of Expression and speech is not absolute'.

A single bench judge in Allahabad High Court observed that Aparna has “scant respect for the law of the land” and that her “conduct further disentitles her to any relief from this court.”

The Judge said that Western Filmmakers don't ridicule Jesus or Allah but Hindi Filmmakers repeatedly insult Hindu Gods and think it is freedom of Expression.

The judge referred to stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui's arrest while stating how Hindi filmmakers continue to “repeatedly ridicule” Hindu deities.

“Such people make the revered figures of religion of majority community source of earning money in most brazen manner taking benefit of the liberal and tolerant tradition of the country.
