Srinagar 23 January: The air traffic was suspended at the Srinagar International Airport after the inclement weather conditions in Kashmir valley from Saturday morning.
Following the snowfall in Kashmir since morning, which was predicted by the MeT department, the air traffic at Srinagar's Airport was halted due to snow accumulation on the runway till the after and then remained suspended throughout the day.
As per officials, not a single flight operated from the Srinagar Airport on Saturday due to the snowfall and several flights scheduled to leave from the Airport were delayed and then cancelled.
Officials said that the flights won't take off until the snow accumulation is cleared off the run and that only be done when it stops snowing.
Pertinently, several inches of snowfall was recorded throughout Srinagar City as it started snowing in the morning, while rain lashed the plains of Jammu division. The weather in Jammu division remained cloudy with sporadic moderate rains throughout the day that recorded an average temperature of 11 degree Celsius.
However, the summer capital Srinagar's temperature was recorded at -2.0° C on Friday night, helping to relieve the cold after Thursday night's mercury settling at -6.1° C.
While, the temperature rose across Kashmir valley last night during which Pahalgam recorded -1.3°C, Qazigund -4.0°C, Kokernag -4.5°C, Kupwara -0.4°C, Gulmarg -4.8°C, Leh-6.1°C.
