27-year-old from J&K bags ‘International Young Economist Award 2021’

Shopian, Feb 25: A young researcher hailing from Shopian district has brought laurels to by bagging “ Young Economist Award 2021” by the Centre for Professional Advancement, West Midlands.
Gowhar Ahmad Wani,27, a resident of Safanagari village in South Kashmir's Shopian district, who is currently working on an index on the basis of which sustainable tourism in the valley could be measured anytime, has won the best research scholar Award 2020-21 by Novel Research Academy.
Gowhar while talking exclusively to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that he feels proud by getting this award and is hopeful that in coming days he will win more prestigious awards to inspire others.
Gowhar has done his schooling from a government school and Masters degree from the University of Kashmir.
In September 2017, he was selected for a PhD research programme in the department of Economics Central University of Kerala and within three years, he presented 11 papers in and international conferences and attended 11 workshops and training courses on research methodology, quantitative techniques and learning software, economics and others and published papers in leading journals besides. He has also edited some books.
Wani has received several awards which include Young Researcher Award by Institute of Scholars Bangalore, Young Scientist Award by Aufau Science Forum, International Young Scientist Award by International Institute of Organised Research, Indo Asian- Elinor Ostrom Distinguished Innovative Researcher Award in Economics by IMRF- Institute of Higher Education and research, Best Research Scholar Award, Pratibha Samman Golden Peacock Award, Top 10 International Distinguished Researcher Award besides others.
He said that besides researching many things, he is researching whether tourism in the valley is supporting normal tourism development or sustainable development through the prism of sustainable development by applying various economic parameters.
Wani believes that the youth of and Kashmir and very much intelligent and have the highest level of IQ power but they lack support and a proper platform within J&K—(KNO)
